If you’re ready to live your life by design, make an impact and have the financial and time freedom to do what you want. When you want, then crank up that volume. And let’s do this.

Are you aware that sometimes you might be giving away your power, one lie that we believe, or something that we just forget about ourselves is that we are powerful. God created us extremely powerful. And we forget how powerful we truly are. And a lot of times we tend to give away our power.

And powering other people is definitely productive. And it’s something as leaders and entrepreneurs we want to do. But giving away your personal power sabotages you and your chances of success and stepping into who God created you to be. And there are different ways that we give away our power. The overall scheme of things if you continue to allow other people to have a negative influence over the way you think, feel, believe behave, you’re going to struggle to reach your God given greatest potential, and giving away your personal power robs you of your mental strength.

And honestly really derails you from your goals. And I’m not just preaching to the choir here. I deal with this a lot myself. And sometimes it’s hard to recognize that we’re doing that but today I’m going to walk you through different ways where you’re giving away your personal power, but then again, How you can reclaim it.

And like I said many times, we aren’t really aware that we’re giving away our personal power. But one of the signs that you can look for is that you feel powerless, you actually feel like you have no control over the situation, you feel and think that you’re a victim to whatever happened to you. And maybe you just felt like everything was going wrong, and you just couldn’t stop it. I’ve definitely experienced those times in my life as well. But just because you feel powerless doesn’t mean you are. And most of the time when we feel powerless, we feel defeated, we complain, we feel the victim, or we say that we’re the victim, or because so and so sad or did this or because this happened, I can’t do this.

It’s because we have chosen whether consciously or subconsciously, to give away our power to others. And the truth is, you can’t control the world around you. You can’t control your circumstances, you can’t control the weather, natural disasters or the past. And it’s a waste of energy to focus your efforts on things that you can’t control.

So recognize your power, and the power of your choice, because you can’t control certain things around you. But while you can’t control what happens to you all the time, your circumstances, the weather, the negative comments, someone puts on your posts on social media, you can’t control that. But what you can control and can choose is how you respond to what happens to you. And that is where you’re either going to give away your power, or you’re going to keep control of your power.

It’s all in the choice of when and how you decide how you are going to respond to something that happens to you. This doesn’t mean you are a victim to what happens to you, it means that you are in control of your experiences, because you’re in control of your thoughts, your words and your actions.

So for example, you take a stand and something that you believe wholeheartedly and you do alive on social media, you make a post and you have a negative person that comes along and just bashes it. We all have haters, right. But we have a choice. And how we choose to respond to that. Are you going to be in control of that experience? Or are you going to give your power away to that person, because when you are in control of your thoughts, your words, your actions, at that time, you are being powerful, you are keeping your power, instead of feeling offended that they said that or wrote that or feeling offended by their negative comment.

And that’s another thing too, when you feel offended by what someone says, and it gets you all worked up inside, you are giving away your power to that person. make a mental note to start being aware when you start feeling offense, when you start feeling anger because of what somebody said or did or posted or commented on social media. Be aware of those circumstances in those situations and how it’s making you feel.

Remember, you have a choice and how you choose to respond. And when you choose to respond in love and not be offended, you are being in control of your thoughts, your words and your actions. in any situation, you have the power and the ability to choose what you will do as long as you recognize it. And that’s the number one thing, we have to recognize it. And the most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any. And God created you to be extremely powerful.

And my friend, you honestly do not know how powerful you are. You need to step into that. So nine ways to or nine ways you give your power away and how to reclaim it. So if you want to feel more empowered in your life, keep your power, you must first become aware of the situations in which you’re giving away your power to and I kind of gave you some examples already. As you’re walking through these I want you to think of if these situations sound familiar, and if so, what can you do in the near future to think

change how you’ve been reacting to keep your power, because remember, you have the power to change, you have the power to make a choice, you have the power to choose, and how you’re going to react because you are in control of your thoughts, your feelings, your beliefs in your emotions, not someone else. All right, one way you give away your power is you don’t speak up when something is wrong. Whether that something is wrong with you, your relationships, the world at large, you have the power to speak up.

When you don’t speak up when something is wrong, when you don’t speak up when you believe something wholeheartedly or you know the truth, and you choose to remain silent. Because you don’t want to offend someone else by what you say. You don’t want to rock the boat. You don’t want to add more chaos, maybe to the situation, you’re actually giving your power away.

Because when you don’t speak up for something that is wrong, when you don’t speak up for something that is the truth, when you don’t speak up for something that you truly believe wholeheartedly, you are giving away your power, and you need to speak up, you need to start exercising your power to speak up. Because eventually it’s going to become easier, it’s going to become more natural. But there is someone out there that is waiting for you to take a stance on what you believe.

So it gives them the courage and the faith to take back their power and start doing the same thing. The second way you’re giving away your power is waiting for someone to give you permission, which is kind of like an employee mindset. And we’re entrepreneurs here, right? We’re Christianpreneurs, we don’t wait for someone to give us permission. That’s what you do in school, you raise your hand so you can go to the bathroom. You raise your hands so you can answer a question you’re waiting for someone to give you permission is an employee II mindset.

And I did a whole episode on employee versus entrepreneurial mindset and the shifts that needs to happen. And I’ll link that in the show notes as well. Because right off and I can’t remember what episode that was. But stop waiting for someone to give you permission. You know, we don’t need someone to tell us that we’re ready for the next step. You need to take that next step. And then clarity will come in. Are you waiting for permission for someone to say yes, go do that.

Yes, go make your dreams come true. Yes, join that network marketing company and take it to the top or create that powerful, profitable, impactful business that has been on your heart and bring that dream to life that God gave you are you waiting for permission to outsource your power, you’re going to be waiting forever because no one is going to give you that permission. You’ve already been granted the permission through your Creator, there wouldn’t be a dream on your heart, if he hadn’t already placed it there and given you everything you need inside to be successful. So instead, you know realize where you are in life. And ask yourself why are you waiting for someone else to give you the green light.

Give it to yourself, and know that you already have everything inside of you to be successful. When you give yourself permission to do what you really want. You are exercising your power to create your abundant life and your future. Third Way We give up our power is when we procrastinate or we choose not to make a choice. When you wait to make a choice or you’re procrastinating you’re not making a choice at all right? And then we become a victim to whatever unfolds for us whether you wanted it or not. And this can actually lead to anger to resentment blaming others all because you didn’t exercise your right to choose your right to make a decision.

And I’ve definitely been there definitely chose to go one route and college when I could have went another route. And all this time I was living in regret because I didn’t like my job. I was blaming my parents for not helping me do certain things or research college or and honestly I was resentful for not being told that who God created me to be is the key to living out my calling and purpose in this life. But I was giving away my power by being in a victim mentality or a victim mindset. I was giving away my power because I didn’t exercise my right to choose. So what to do instead commit to making choices that best support yourself, your family, those who have your best interests in mind, and don’t procrastinate on making key decisions.

Fourth way you airpower is you let someone else call the shots in your life. I mean, who’s really in charge of your life? Besides God? Yes, God is in control of our life. But really, he gives us free will, right? The same thing, we just talked about the power to make a choice. So you are really in charge of your life. And when I asked you that, who’s really in charge of your life, if, besides God, if you answered it with anyone other than yourself, or God, God, then yourself, right? You are giving away your power.

You, my friend are ultimately responsible for your circumstances, not anyone else. Yes, we can’t control our circumstances all the time, but you are ultimately responsible for them. So what to do instead? Well, if you’re not in a job that fulfills you, that lights your soul on fire is not who God created you to be, then make a decision to change it. If you’re not in a relationship, or if you’re in a health condition you want to be in, then decide what you’re going to do about it. And then do it. Make it a priority, and decide what you will be doing to make a change happen.

The fifth way we give away our power, we choose against our own intuition, our intuition, as Christians, we always our Holy Spirit, like our gut instinct, right? And have you ever had that gut feeling that something just isn’t right? But then you ignore that feeling. And you go ahead Anyway, I’ve definitely been there.

That’s one way we give away our power. Because the Holy Spirit in our intuition given to us through the Holy Spirit is our most powerful barometer of what is right and wrong for us at any given time. And when we don’t heed this innate force inside of us, and we choose against ourselves, then we’re giving away our power. So what to do instead is to trust your intuition is leading you to a higher good. So practice tuning into the Holy Spirit and the intuition on a regular basis, by checking in with yourself, and pay attention to the signs that your body gives you. And let that be a guiding factor. The sixth way we give away our power is you play victim to your own story.

So if you find yourself saying that everything happens to you, this is a sign you’re playing a victim to your own story. Or if you find yourself saying, I can’t do this, because so and so did this to me, or maybe someone stole money from you. Or maybe you had a traumatic experience as a child, which I am not downplaying that at all. But if you find yourself saying that I can’t do this, this and this, because of so and so that are that you are playing victim, okay, and you’re giving away your power. Yes, a lot of bad things. And I could use another word happens in our lives that we have no control over. But if you’re constantly saying, pour me, I can’t do this, because of so and so.

And that it’s time to reclaim your power. What to do instead is start replacing those thoughts and those words, with more supportive and empowering thoughts in words, you can even start with, I support myself by or I choose to insert an action of what you’re going to do to start making a change in your situation. The seventh way we give away our power, you wait until conditions are perfect, right? And if you’re waiting till the right time, or until the stars are aligned, or until whatever that perfect circumstance is for you, you’re going to be waiting forever.

Because perfection is a myth. Perfection is an illusion, actually. And who are you comparing it to anyways? I mean, the only person that we know that is amazingly perfect is God our Creator and Jesus, right. So if you’re waiting for perfection, you’re gonna be waiting for a very long time. And by waiting for perfection, you’re actually giving yourself an excuse to not do something. Big accomplishments are built over time, through a process of failing forward in succeeding, not in just one perfect instant. We fail forward every day in order to achieve our goals. So what to do instead, the key to exercising your power is simply to stay

Start to start, and then adjust and tweak along the way. This podcast is being tweaked along the way, my online business is being tweaked along the way, you just need to start and embrace the idea that failure is just part of the learning process. We live in a dualistic world you can’t have North without south, you can’t have cold without hot, you can’t have success without failure. So embrace it, and know that it’s just a part of the learning process, and a part of success and move forward in spite of it and take one in perfect step at a time.

Eighth way that we tend to give away our power is we constantly put the needs of others ahead of our own, being a considerate and caring person is one thing, but if you find yourself constantly prioritizing the needs of others, your family, your kids above your own, you’re actually neglecting yourself. And you’re not going to be a very well rounded individual when you’re neglecting yourself, you must take care of yourself before you can take care of others. The same thing when we’re pouring into our clients and the people that need to hear from us.

We can’t pour into others with an empty cup, we need to have a full cup in order to be our best so we can take care of others as well. So what to do instead, start prioritizing your self-care, what do you need to do on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis in order to feel taken care of, and schedule that in? That’s not being selfish, it is honoring your knees first. So then you can be a service to others. And then the ninth way that we give away our power is just by playing small.

Are you playing small, when you know deep down that you have the power to do more to be more and to live up to a higher potential of who God created you to be? But you consistently choose to color in the lines in quotes because you feel safe. Or you decide to stay in your comfort zone because that’s safe and secure. You are giving up your power. You are born with specific gifts, strengths, and talents that were meant to be utilized in this world. There are people out there waiting for you to take that step of faith and start playing big so you can come alongside of them and help them.

So what to do instead, tell yourself you will begin to step up to the plate in your career, your relationships, your health, whatever that looks like, even if it’s scary. And this might mean doing something that you’re not quite ready to do. But do it anyway. Because it is so worth it. So becoming aware of how you give your power away is your first step to reclaiming it in realize that no matter what the circumstances, you have the power to choose.

You have the power to prioritize your best interest and ultimately create the life that you really want to live and step into who God created you to be.
